Chris Vance uses numbers in his paintings to add texture and interest. In his new series, titled "Paint by Numbers," Chris Vance merges his graphic design background into a colorful and bold new direction. "I started exploring numbers and using them as texture in my paintings because they stimulate the imagination. Numbers are everywhere and define us from the time we are born until the day we die. We live our lives in and around numbers including our salaries, addresses, phone numbers, calendars and holidays. One or more numbers stamps each event in our lives. So, I find it fascinating that as I randomly paint numbers into a piece, people identify with the numbers. They tell me that the numbers actually reflect important times, places and events in their lives. I love hearing their stories about the numbers and what each painting means to them."
