In a world where a guy is trying to make a living painting airplanes.. A company comes along and sells him some total bullshit. Even with warranties, promises, and technical advice from the inventors of the bullshit the company can still weasle out of thier deal. I am a very small business owner, this was a huge job for me, it had the potential to put my little shop on the map, as well as the company that was selling me the materials to make it a stunner. Ultimately Rubber Seal products were completely worthless for anything more than small spot repairs for used car lot owners. Rubber Seal reps promised the moon on this paint job, even offering to help remove it!! But in the end it was Dougzilla and I that had to remove an almost completed paint job before it ever left my shop. I repainted it with PPG products and couldnt be happier with the results (as usual). Labor and Materials to do the 2nd paint job cost me well over 15,000 dollars, and thats not even counting the other work that was delayed while I unfucked this mess! The BBB was no help, nor was the county attorney, i could not afford to hire legal advice so i had to eat this paint job.. the president of Rubber Seal was obviously no help. Its been 4 years since I repainted this aircraft, and it is turning heads and winning shows all over the country. I kept the scrapings of this paint job, so if you want to know what a small plane paint job weighs.. its about 4.25 pounds (including the box its stored in). I have always delivered as promised to my customers, despite any and all set backs, this one almost completely sank my little shop. Thanks Phil for believing in me, and having patienence through the trouble with Rubber Seal . I really hope you enjoy 267.. it was bitter sweet for me. And you still owe me a ride in it! :-) The moral of this story.. dont use products you have never heard of, or have no track record on projects like the one you are doing! And dont buy shit from Rubber Seal.. even thier razor blades suck!
